1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a self-paced early literacy program and is open for enrollment year-round.
Mission Statement:
To recognize the importance of early literacy skills and reading, to provide families with reading resources, and to promote the future success of children in school.
Objectives:
- To instill a love of reading in children that will help them become lifelong learners.
- To reinforce parents' and caregivers' role as their child's first teacher.
- To foster parent and child bonding through reading.
- To encourage families to regularly use the educational resources available at the Boca Raton Public Library.
Enroll now! There are three easy ways to enroll. Boca Raton Public Library cardholders will receive a special gift at enrollment:
- Online at 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten or install the READsquared app from Google Play or the Apple store on your mobile device.
- Phone the Youth Services Desk at 561-393-7968 or 561-544-8584.
- Visit either Youth Services Desk at the Downtown Library or Spanish River Library.
If enrolling online or by phone, stop by either Youth Services desk to receive your enrollment gift with your valid Boca Raton Public Library card.

Keep Track of Your Reading:
For every 100 books read, children will receive a free book and a sticker to add to their journal to celebrate their progress! A graduation celebration will be held each year for participants who have read 1,000 books!
