The CodeRED system gives city officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire city. The system is geographically based notification, which means street addresses are needed to select which phone numbers will receive emergency notification calls in any given situation.
Examples of times when the CodeRED system could be utilized: drinking water contamination, utility outage, evacuation notice and route, missing person, fires or floods, bomb threat, hostage situation, chemical spill or gas leak and other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.
Even if you think you are registered
No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included. Businesses should register, as well as individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, have changed their phone number or address within the last year and use a cellular phone as their primary home phone.
