Description/Accomplishment: Replacing existing electric fixtures with solar powered beacons and flashing signs, including school flashers and crosswalk beacons.

Description/Accomplishment: Both municipal pools converted from gas powered pool water heating systems to a geo-thermal pool water heating and cooling systems,  reducing energy use.

Program or Project: Variable Frequency Pumps
Description/Accomplishment: Variable frequency pumps match the speed of the pump motor to the required pump flow greatly increasing the efficiency of the pump.  Most  of the large pumps at the water and wastewater facility have variable  frequency drives, and the Swim Center pool installed one for the pool  pump motor.

Program or Project: Methane Gas Reuse
Description/Accomplishment: Wastewater digesters require temperature-controlled environment and use of an external heating system. The City reuses of methane gas created  during wastewater digestion to heat the digesters.

Program or Project: Peak Demand Water Pumping
Description/Accomplishment: WTP uses a diesel engine during peak water demand to drive a fourth pump to maintain desired water pressures.  This avoids high power use  during times of peak water demand helps keep electrical costs down.

Program or Project: Shuttle Program  
Description/Accomplishment: Shuttle system connects APOC businesses and the Tri-Rail station at  Yamato Rd.   (Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station has the highest ridership of  all the Tri-Rail stations.)

Program or Project:Transportation Demand Management (TDM)
Description/Accomplishment: Reducing peak hour traffic and reducing single occupancy vehicle trips by requiring downtown businesses, businesses in the Park of Broken Sound  (aka APOC) and Planned Mobility developments to implement TDM plans.  Plans vary by including provisions for flex time, compressed work weeks,  transit subsidies, telecommuting, carpooling and vanpooling, use of  transit, walking and bike riding and providing friendly bicycle and  pedestrian amenities.
