Monica Mayotte

Biography

Originally from Salem, New Jersey, but having grown up in Miami, Deputy Mayor Mayotte moved to Boca Raton in 1996.


Education

Deputy Mayor Mayotte has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems from Florida State University.


Professional Experience

Drawing on her Information Technology background, Deputy Mayor Mayotte worked at Burger King Corporation’s World Headquarters in Miami and at JM Family Enterprises in Deerfield Beach in various technology positions including, Project Manager and Business Analyst.


Community Involvement

Since moving to Boca Raton, Deputy Mayor Mayotte served as PTA President at Addison Mizner Elementary School from 2002-2004. She began her volunteer service with the city when she was appointed by former Mayor Susan Whelchel to the Green Living Task Force in 2009. The task force eventually transitioned to the permanent Green Living Advisory Board. She remained a member of the board until 2016 and served as chairperson for two years, 2014-2016.


On a global and national level, Deputy Mayor Mayotte is associated with two non-profit organizations, Citizens’ Climate Lobby and The Climate Reality Project. She has lobbied on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for climate change legislation with the Citizen’s Climate Lobby. Deputy Mayor Mayotte was trained by former Vice-President Al Gore to be a member of The Climate Reality Project’s Climate Reality Leadership Corps. In this capacity, she has been a mentor and speaker at Climate Reality training sessions around the country.


Family

Deputy Mayor Mayotte and her husband, Terry, have two adult children. She believes that Boca Raton is a great place to raise a family, work, play and retire, and is committed to ensuring Boca Raton provides a beautiful, safe and healthy environment so all its residents will prosper.
