For the past five years, the Florence Fuller Child Development Center has managed and operated the Boca Raton Children’s Museum. With the help of dedicated volunteers, committed patrons, supporters, visitors and members, the Children’s’ Museum offered programs and events to the community. While there is tremendous support for the concept of a Children’s Museum, the ability to make the museum a self-sustaining entity proved to be a challenge.
In December 2019, the Florence Fuller Child Development Center discussed an operation, ownership and management transition with the City of Boca Raton. It was determined that after December 19, the Children’s Museum would temporarily close and reopen under the operation and management of the City’s Recreation Services Department.
During the early months of 2020, the City will assess and evaluate the buildings, grounds, programming, exhibits, and financial position. The plan is to reopen the Children’s Museum in the spring.
Membership questions should be directed to the Florence Fuller Child Development Center. Contact: 561-391-7274.
City staff will be evaluating programming needs during the transition.
The City will communicate with residents and visitors about the status of the assessment, programming and reopening dates through social media, the City website and in the Recreator. Questions and comments can be directed to ChildrensMuseum@myboca.us.
In the meantime, we want to thank you for your continued support of this very special museum. Collectively, we will honor its mission and continue to provide an exceptional place for young children and families.
