95 Express Lanes

The purpose of the 95 Express Lanes is to improve mobility, relieve congestion, provide additional travel options, enhance transit services, accommodate future growth and development in the region, enhance emergency evacuation, and improve system connectivity between key limited access facilities in South Florida. Parts of this project affecting the Boca Raton area are:

  • 3B-1 SW 10th St to south of Glades Rd
  • 3B-2 Glades Rd to Linton Blvd
    • SR-808/Glades Road Interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)
    • Clint Moore Road bridge at I-95

3B-2 Glades Rd to Linton Blvd

Description:  95 Express Lanes Phase 3B-2 will extend the existing Express Lanes north from just south of Glades Road to just south of Linton Boulevard in Palm Beach County. One lane will be added and the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane will be converted to create two Express Lanes in each direction. The number of General Use lanes will remain the same.

For more information, please contact Community Outreach Specialist Andrea Pacini at (561) 214-3358.

As part of 95 Express Phase 3B-2, the Glades Road bridge over Military Trail is being widened. During this construction operation, pile driving will occur. This activity, pictured below, can create noise. Permitted pile driving times are 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Pile driving will not be performed on Sundays or holidays. Traffic on Military Trail is shifted to ensure motorist and crew safety during this operation, with two northbound lanes and one southbound lane currently closed.

Pile driving at this location is divided into two phases. Pile driving for the first phase will be intermittent, as needed, through April 2022. The second phase of pile driving is anticipated to begin in June 2022—updates will be sent in advance of that operation. Bridge widening completion at this location is anticipated in fall 2022, at which time the original traffic pattern will also be restored. Overall project completion is expected in late 2023.

SR-808/Glades Road Interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)

On January 15, 2020, FDOT held a project Open House at the Spanish River Library which gave residents and interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback to the project team.

The scope of work also includes reconfiguration of the SR-808/Glades Road Interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). Other project improvements include milling, resurfacing, and overbuilding the existing I-95 travel lanes and shoulders, widening the roadway, guardrail, barrier wall, attenuators, shoulder gutters, drainage, retaining walls, overhead sign structure installation, portable traffic monitoring sites, gantries and associated infrastructure (including construction of equipment buildings), installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Express Lane Markers, signing and pavement markings, new signalization, lighting, utility relocation and ramp signaling at five interchanges from Glades Road to Linton Boulevard.

Shoulder-mounted sound barrier walls will be constructed along I-95 northbound between Clint Moore Road and Linton Boulevard, ground-mounted sound walls will be installed on Yamato Road adjacent to the University Heights Community and along I-95 northbound south of Linton Boulevard adjacent to the Tierra Verde Community.

Glades Road Construction to Begin March 1, 2021

As part of the I-95 Express Phase 3B-2, construction at the I-95 interchange will begin on March 1, 2021 with westbound Glades Road traffic, between NW 22 Way and West University Drive, will be shifted inside towards the median to allow for outside widening.

Single-lane daytime closures are permitted Monday - Friday during the off-peak hours of 9:30am until 4pm and on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 6am - 9pm. Single-lane nighttime closures are permitted 9pm-6am and two-lane closures are permitted to begin at 10pm.

Clint Moore Road bridge at I-95

The Clint Moore Road bridge at I-95 will be modified to improve clearance over the I-95 travel lanes. Bridge widening will be performed at Glades Road over the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) railroad tracks and Military Trail and at I-95 and the C-15 Canal, between Peninsula Drive and Linton Boulevard.

Clint Moore Road Bridge Reconstruction to Begin March 8, 2021

Reconstruction of the Clint Moore Road bridge over I-95 is anticipated to begin on March 8, 2021. The bridge will be closed completely during construction.

Crews will be permitted to work:

  • Monday - Friday | 7am - 6pm
  • Saturday | 8am - 7pm
  • No work is permitted on Sundays or holidays

Emergency access for first responders will be maintained throughout the duration of this closure. Westbound traffic will be detoured via NW 2nd Avenue, Yamato Road and Congress Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via Park of Commerce Boulevard, Congress Avenue, Yamato Road and NW 2nd Avenue. Local neighborhood access will be maintained. The reconstruction of this bridge is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2022.
