Annual Leave

Employees accrue prior to attaining permanent status in the classified service, and leave may be used after six (6) months of employment at the sole discretion of the Department Head, but it shall not be paid out upon resignation or termination unless the employee has attained permanent status (one full year). The maximum accrual is 360 hours.

Sick Leave

Employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month. Any hours in excess of 960 will be paid off annually at 50%. Upon retirement, employees with a minimum of 5 years continuous service will receive 50% of sick leave balance.

City observes 10 recognized holidays:

Floating Holidays

In addition to the City's Observed holidays, additional floating days are allocated for the fiscal year beginning October 1, to full time 8-hour a day employees. 

New employees shall receive the full number of floating holidays authorized for the fiscal year in which they were hired if hired prior to April 1st, but only one half the number of floating holidays authorized for the fiscal year in which they were hired if hired after April 1st. Floating holidays must be used within the fiscal year. 

Non-task employees working 10-hour days receive 10, 10-hour paid holidays but do not receive floating holidays.

Part-time Employee Benefits

Paid Leave

Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. 

457 Deferred Compensation Plan

Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
