South Florida typically has an abundant annual rainfall, but as we know our weather can quickly change from deluge to drought. As a result, it’s important that water conservation is a year-round effort in our community...today, and for generations to come.
The City of Boca Raton Utility Services works to ensure customers have continued water service, but we need your help in reducing your water use!
VOLUNTARY CONSERVATION MEASURES FOR IRRIGATION
The City of Boca Raton has lawn and landscape irrigation restrictions all year. Amid recent dry conditions, the South Florida Water Management District is strongly recommending property owners take additional measures to conserve water including:
- Water lawns only two days (instead of our current three-day watering restriction) per week between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- Apply no more than 3/4 -inch to 1 inch of water per week on their lawns and landscapes and only as needed to supplement rainfall
Please note this is a recommendation and those not following this voluntary recommendation are not subject to penalties. In addition, users conducting landscape irrigation with reclaimed water are not restricted.
Please continue to comply with the City of Boca Raton’s year-round water restrictions.
City of Boca Raton Ordinance for Water Restrictions
The watering restrictions are designed to ensure the efficient use of water for landscape irrigation. The restrictions allow enough water to maintain healthy landscapes year-round. The mandatory restrictions specify the time when watering may occur, the amount of water that may be applied, and the days when watering may occur for residential and nonresidential locations. These days depend on whether the address ends in an odd or even number.
Water use between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. Saturday through Thursday shall be limited to 3 days a week as follows:
By working together, the Utility Services Department and the Community can protect the public and the environment while continuing to improve our quality of life.
