Service Policies
The City of Boca Raton provides water service to 28,000 city residents and approximately 6,500 unincorporated residents of Boca Raton. When moving into a residence in Boca Raton, water service is established in the name of the owner or occupant unless otherwise stated by the landlord of a rental property.
Opening an Account
To open an account, customers are required to complete an application form, provide a copy of their lease or home settlement statement at least 24 hours in advance. The application is available on our Customer Portal.
Deposit Requirement
Each customer must pay a deposit according to the size of the meter and the location of the account.
The typical cost for owners is $100 up to $125 and renter deposits are $300 up to $375 for residential properties.
The deposit is billed at the initial opening of the account and is due and payable within 30 days.
Deposits earn interest annually and are refundable when the account is closed.
Billing & Payment Dates
The City of Boca Raton bills customers on a bimonthly basis for approximately 60 days of service each billing cycle. The bill will also include sewer and garbage charges during this period. To ensure proper credit to your account, make sure your payment is received within 30 days of the billing date shown on the bill. If you need additional time to pay your bill, please contact Customer Service. You may also elect to have paperless bills mailed electronically by selecting the paperless option above and following the instructions.
Paying Your Bill
You may view and pay your bill online. The website provides your current balance and allows you to view your latest bill, your payment and billing history. To access your account, you will need a copy of your bill with the account number. You will have to establish a permanent pin number if you are a first time user. When paying online, you can pay using your Master Card, Visa, American Express, or Discover. You may also sign up for Automatic Bank Drafting which automatically withdraws the amount of your bill from your checking or savings account on the exact due date of the bill.
Questions About Your Bill
A portion of your bill is based on the amount of water you consume each period. This will appear on the bill as consumption. The remainder of the bill calculation is based on flat fixed fees that will not vary such as the customer charge, water capacity charge and sewer charge. For water or sewer emergencies that are not related to billing such as a sewer back up or a main water line break, please contact the Utility Services Department at:

Disconnecting or Transferring Service
In the event you move, you should always disconnect your service before moving from a residence.
Customers may request service termination via the Customer Portal.
If you are moving to a new location serviced by the City of Boca Raton, you will need to transfer your service and provide the same information as noted above for opening a new account.
Please note the deposit requirement may vary when transferring from one location to another. The account deposit will be billed and the difference billed or refunded as required.
