[ARCHIVED] City Completes Debris Removal from Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma Debris Completed

For the past 5 weeks, the City of Boca Raton staff and contractors have been working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to remove debris caused by Hurricane Irma. After vegetation was removed during three debris removal passes through the City, wood fencing and construction debris was picked up. As of Sunday, October 22, City parks and properties have been cleared and debris removal from the storm has been completed. Approximately 180,000 cubic yards of debris – seven stories high-was collected and taken to the City’s temporary removal site for mulching. That material is now being processed and transported to the landfill.

Looking ahead, residents are encouraged to review the sustainable tree maintenance information on the City’s website before replanting and pruning ahead of next hurricane season.

Regular bulk pick for City of Boca Raton customers will resume the week of October 23, 2017.
