CITY OF BOCA RATON RECOGNIZES VETERANS WITH EVENTS FROM MORNING TO NIGHT ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11
New This Year – Collaboration with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach to Provide
Cards & Goods to Deployed Soldiers


BOCA RATON, FLORIDA (October 11, 2017) – In recognition of Veterans Day and in remembrance of all military personnel in service to the United States, the City of Boca Raton will host a Veterans Day Observance “Honoring All Who Served” on Saturday, November 11 with two special events FREE and open to the public.

A special tribute is planned at 9 a.m. at the Boca Raton Cemetery, 449 SW 4th Avenue, with various veterans groups, City officials, music by the Ft. Lauderdale Highlanders and the Boca Raton Community High School Band; drills by Boca Raton Community High School NJROTC; and the Boca Raton Police and Fire Honor Guards.

A special concert, “An American Tribute,” will be presented by the Florida Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Kyle Prescott at 7 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real, in Downtown Boca.

New this year, the City of Boca Raton is teaming up with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, a local non-profit, in implementing two new initiatives at the events. Two new stations will include an area where attendees can write a letter to a soldier and another where goods and/or funds may be donated to create “We Care” packages to be sent to deployed soldiers.

Needed items include travel-size toiletries such as baby wipes, bar soap, baby/foot powder, dental floss, disposable razors, hand sanitizer, lip balm, mouthwash, Q-tips, tampons, tissues, toothpaste, toothbrushes and shave cream packets. Food items include crackers, trail mix, hot chocolate, foil tuna packets, packaged drink mixes, oatmeal/grit packages, ramen noodles, and snack/breakfast bars. Other items needed include insect repellent wipes, storage bags (gallon and snack sizes) and Scotch tape refills.

Blankets and chairs are welcome at this free event, and chairs will also be available to rent. There is limited, free parking for Veterans in the lot adjacent to the amphitheater. Food and beverages will be available for purchase inside the venue. No coolers or outside alcoholic beverages permitted. The event is rain or shine.
