The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host an informal Open House on Wednesday, April 25 to discuss the upcoming sidewalk improvements project on Palmetto Park Road, from State Road 7/US 441 to NW 2nd Avenue, in Boca Raton. The Open House will be held from 5pm to 7pm at the Boca Raton Downtown Public Library (400 NW 2nd Avenue, Boca Raton, FL 33432).
Project plans and other documents will be on display. No formal presentation will be made. Staff will be on hand to discuss the scope of work, answer questions and address individual concerns. Guests may arrive at any time.
This 6.279-mile project will begin Friday, April 20, 2018, and is expected to be completed Spring 2019, weather permitting. The project cost is $4 million. Work is being performed by General Asphalt Co., with American Engineering Group providing project oversight.
Scope of Work:
- Widen existing shared-use path and install new curb ramps to meet current ADA standards, and improve pedestrian and bicyclist access to mass transit options along Palmetto Park Road. The work will take place on the south side of the roadway, parallel to the eastbound lanes, from State Road 7 to NW 12th Avenue, and on both sides of the roadway from NW 12th Avenue to NW 2nd Avenue.
- Minor roadway resurfacing at side streets.
- Widen westbound turn lane at Cardinal Avenue’s entrance to the Boca Raton Museum of Art School.
Maintenance of Traffic:
Lane closures between Military Trail and I-95 may only occur between 8:30p.m. and 7a.m. Otherwise, lane closures can be expected Monday through Friday, in each direction, at any time. Minor night and weekend work may be required. The existing pathway may be closed at various times and locations on one side at a time.
