BOCA RATON, FL – September 13, 2019 – The City of Boca Raton’s Communication and Marketing Division’s Know Before You Go digital newsletter won a top honor this month at the international City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) annual conference in Denver, Colorado. With over 700 entries from over 200 jurisdictions, the City won the Savvy (1st Place) Award for Digital Interactive – Electronic Newsletter category for populations up to 99,000. The newly designed newsletter was applauded at the 3CMA conference as a “creative concept that every community should be using for their local events.”
The Know Before You Go digital newsletter was designed as a new initiative to educate and inform attendees with as much information as possible for them to properly prepare for each major City event. The newsletter is sent out to over 25,000 subscribers and includes information such as what to expect at the event, what eventgoers can and can’t bring, where to park, event site maps and amenities, safety tips and how to stay updated on more information.
The Communications and Marketing Division also won a Silver Circle (2nd Place) Award in the overall Go Green Communication Program Efforts category for the MARS mobile water unit communication campaign as well as an Award of Excellence (3rd Place) in the overall Digital Interactive Media – Other Media, podcast, radio, etc. category for the Boca Behind the Scenes podcast, a podcast series that features information and updates on City projects, programs, events and services directly from City staff members.
3CMA is the nation’s premiere network of local government communicators. The organization was founded in 1988 on the philosophy that communications and marketing are essential to helping governments engage and build stronger relationships with their residents. The Savvy Awards, held in conjunction with 3CMA’s Annual Conference, recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. The Savvies salute skilled and effective city, county, agency or district professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations in communications and marketing.
