Boca Raton Public Library Goes Mobile

Large check from Friends of the Boca Raton Library being presented to Library Staff.

The Boca Raton Public Library is going mobile and taking their services on the road to change the way residents interact with the library. The new van, complete with WiFi and a charging station, will expand services for all residents in the community. The innovative van will provide library materials, library card sign-ups, resources and services to those without access to traditional library buildings due to mobility, transportation and/or socio-economic limitations. Library staff also plans to bring the mobile library into the community and to various City events to provide special activities and programs in an effort to raise awareness about all the services the library offers.

After library staff presented the idea to the Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library, the Board voted unanimously to fund the majority of the cost for the vehicle and generously donated $77, 075 for the purchase of the van. The check was presented to Michael Kalvort, Recreation Services Director and Ellen Randolph, Manager of Library Services at the beginning of October.

Be sure to look out for the mobile library van beginning Spring 2020!
