Residents recently weighed in on naming the new park site of two intracoastal properties known as Silver Palm Park (south side of Palmetto Park Road) and the Wildflower Property (north side of Palmetto Park Road). The parks will be connected under the Palmetto Park Road bridge and redeveloped as one, integrated, waterfront park site.
In an online survey, nearly 300 participants weighed in and most agreed that Silver Palm Park should keep its name, and that the Wildflower property, because it’s been recognized as such for several years, should become the Wildflower Park. The Wildflower was the name of the restaurant that was on the property for years, and is familiar to many locals. Considerations for the names included the site’s geographic location, historical or cultural significance, natural or geological features, community identity, or prominent site activities.
City Council members discussed the survey results at the January 13 Workshop Meeting and agreed to keep Silver Palm Park and Wildflower Park. Park site plans are in progress.
