In September 2020, the City of Boca Raton received $547,617 in Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) to assist residents experiencing financial hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds were used to help eligible residents in need of rental and mortgage foreclosure assistance. As a stipulation of the CRF, the funds had to be expended by December 30, 2020.
The program was established by the City’s Community Improvement staff and included an online application system, a CRF telephone assistance line, and a community-wide marketing and outreach campaign. After reviewing 166 applications, 78 resident households were approved for CRF assistance; 62 received rental assistance and 16 received mortgage assistance. As of December 22, 2020, all City CRF funds were expended for direct assistance to residents.
