Mizner Park Amphitheater Mural
Artist Eduardo “EMO” Mendieta
Commissioned by the City of Boca Raton as part of the Art in Public Places Initiative
Downtown Boca’s Mizner Park Amphitheater greets guests with a vibrant 30’ by 60’ mural, designed by West Palm Beach artist, Eduardo Mendieta, on its closed stage doors.
Mendieta was selected among 29 artists who submitted their proposals to the city.
The design, the focal point of the high traffic north end of Mizner Park, features a musician playing a stand-up bass on the left panel and a dancer on the right whose dress morphs into an ocean wave as it drapes across the stage doors. Atop the wave is a boat with palm trees, birds and the sun in the background depicting the South Florida lifestyle. Behind the dancer is a rendering of Boca Raton’s old City Hall…a nod to the history of the city. The colorful background plays with the imagery of overlapping stage lights.
“Public art beautifies the community, along with the spaces we occupy and inhabit every day,” said Mendieta. “I’m proud to bring my vision to life and to make a positive impact in Boca Raton.”...
