Boca Raton, FL – As hurricane season approaches, the City of Boca Raton is reminding the community to be prepared, stay safe and stay connected with its Be Prepared Boca 2022 Hurricane Guide.
The City has welcomed many new residents over the past year, some from locations that do not experience hurricanes. The City’s 2022 Hurricane Guide provides storm related information and resources that will help those new to Boca Raton, or not, navigate hurricane season - before, during and after a storm.
The 2022 Hurricane Guide includes important steps to take ahead of time, like trimming trees and removing clutter, having an evacuation plan ready, and stocking up on hurricane supplies. Residents will also find reminders for curbside bulk and vegetation pick-up, and flood zone information. In the event of a storm, the Guide features details on pet friendly and special needs county shelters, evacuation zones, and how to stay connected.
Communication is vital, and the Guide includes information for residents and businesses to sign up for Alert Boca emergency text notifications to stay connected at all times, but especially during a storm.
“We hope this Guide will help all Boca Raton residents – both new and long-term – prepare for the worst even as we hope for the best. Being prepared early on getting your supplies, securing your house, and having a plan will avoid a lot of worry later on,” says Mayor Scott Singer.
