Update: Monday, April 3, 2023
The Glades Road DDI at I-95 opened in final configuration on Monday morning, April 3, 2023 – almost a month ahead of the original projected completion date of May 1, 2023.
- The final configuration features 4 westbound lanes and 4 eastbound lanes, including a dedicated and dual/through turn lane to the I-95 northbound entrance ramp.
- Please be aware that daily off-peak lane closures within the DDI area may still be required to finalize grading, sod placement, pond excavation, pull box adjustments, and drainage within the pond areas.
- Nightly lane closures will also occur as needed for placement of thermoplastic elements.
- All outstanding items are scheduled to be completed by May 1, 2023.
- FDOT’s Traffic Operations team will continue to work closely with the City of Boca’s Traffic Management Center and Traffic Engineering division to observe and optimize signal timing.

What is a Diverging Diamond Interchange?
A Diverging Diamond Interchange or DDI is a type of interchange that allows the two directions of traffic on the roadway to temporarily cross to the opposite side of the road. Signalized intersections as well as overhead directional signage and pavement markings will help provide the following:
- Safer access to and from I-95
- Alleviation of traffic delays and congestion
- Reduction in crashes at the interchange by a projected 33%, per FDOT
- Improvement of future projected traffic demand, mobility and efficiency for all users

When will the DDI be implemented?
Implementation of the DDI will take place Friday, January 27 through Monday, January 30. Please note that all access to and from SR-808/Glades Road at I-95 will be CLOSED that weekend.
SR-808/Glades Road at I-95 will REOPEN to traffic in the new DDI configuration on Monday, January 30.
Please slow down and use caution as you approach the interchange as the existing westbound movement will become the new eastbound movement and the existing eastbound movement will be the new westbound movement. Use the overhead signage, signals and pavement markings to navigate the new configuration. Law enforcement officers will be on site to assist motorists.

What roadways will be closed as part of the DDI implementation?
As part of the DDI implementation, all access to and from Glades Road at I-95 will be CLOSED beginning Friday, January 27 at 11pm through Monday, January 30. The following closures and detours will be in effect.
- I-95 Southbound Entrance Ramp from Eastbound Glades Road - Motorists will be detoured via Butts Road, Town Center Road, SR-809/Military Trail and Palmetto Park Road.
- I-95 Southbound Entrance Ramp from Westbound Glades Road - Motorists will be detoured via Airport Road and SR-794/Yamato Road.
- I-95 Northbound Entrance Ramp from Eastbound Glades Road - Motorists will be detoured via Butts Road, SR-809/Military Trail and SR-794/Yamato Road.
- I-95 Northbound Entrance Ramp from Westbound Glades Road - Motorists will be detoured via Airport Road and SR-794/Yamato Road
- I-95 Southbound Exit Ramp to Glades Road - Motorists will be detoured via SR-9/I-95 southbound and Palmetto Park Road. SR-808/Glades Road east traffic will travel north on SR-5/Federal Highway. SR-808/Glades Road west traffic will travel north on SR-809/Military Trail and Butts Road.
- I-95 Northbound Exit Ramp to Glades Road - Motorists will be detoured via SR-9/I-95 northbound and SR-794/Yamato Road. SR-808/Glades Road east traffic will travel south on US-1/N. Federal Highway and SR-808/Glades Road west traffic will travel south on SR-809/Military Trail and Butts Road.
- Westbound Glades Road at I-95 - Motorists will be detoured via Airport Road, Spanish River Boulevard, SR-809/Military Trail, and Butts Road.
- Eastbound Glades Road at I-95 - Motorists will be detoured via Butts Road, Town Center Road, SR-809/Military Trail, Palmetto Park Road, and SR-5/N. Federal Highway.

FDOT has announced that the new target opening is 3:30PM due to finalizing signal work. We will provide updates as soon as the interchange is open.
Update: Monday, January 30, 9:30am
New target opening of the Glades Road at I-95 Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) is now 1 PM. FDOT is placing the Reflective Pavement Markings now that the road has dried enough for them to adhere. Extra crews have been brought in from Broward and Palm Beach to help expedite the process as much as possible.
Thanks for your patience as they work to get the interchange open as soon as safely possible.
Update: Monday, January 30, 8am
Due to weather overnight, opening of the Glades Road at I-95 Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) has been delayed. The new target opening is for 10:00 a.m. this morning. Once completed, the DDI will open in a temporary configuration with three lanes open for motorists in each direction (East-West). A fourth lane in each direction will be opened once drainage installation and additional work is completed. Additionally, two 7-foot bike lanes will be open for cyclists in each direction. To ensure pedestrian safety, the norther sidewalk will remain closed, and pedestrians will be rerouted to the southern sidewalk at Airport Road and Renaissance Way.
Law enforcement will be on-site daily for the first two weeks after implementation to ensure that motorists are following the new traffic pattern. Please slow down and use caution as you approach the interchange as the existing westbound movement will become the new eastbound movement and the existing eastbound movement will be the new westbound movement. Use the overhead signage, signals and pavement markings to navigate the new configuration. Law enforcement officers will be on site to assist motorists.
