If I am a certified police officer in a different state, do I have to complete the Equivalency of Training course (EOT) before applying?: No, however if you are hired by the Boca Raton Police Services Department, we will pay to send you to the class within a year of being hired.

1. I am a certified police officer with another agency, will my current salary transfer with me if I am hired by the City of Boca Raton?: No, all applicants are hired at starting salary.

2. Can I apply before I have a Florida Driver's License?: Yes, you may apply for employment before obtaining a Florida Driver’s License. However, if selected you must obtain a valid Florida Driver’s License before starting work as a Boca Raton Police Officer.

3. If I am a certified police officer in a different state, do I have to complete the Equivalency of Training course (EOT) before applying?: No, however if you are hired by the Boca Raton Police Services Department, we will pay to send you to the class within a year of being hired.

4. I am certified police officer, will my certification exempt me from any portion of the testing process?: No, all applicants are required to meet all requirements and complete every phase of the hiring process.

5. How many trips to Florida will be needed to complete the hiring process if I live out of state?: Out of state applicants can expect to make at least three trips to Florida to complete the entire hiring process.

6. Does the Boca Raton Police Department have a tattoo policy?: While on duty, employees are not permitted to have any tattoos visible. Applicants with visible arm tattoos must wear a department issued long sleeve uniform shirt.

7. What are you minimum requirements to become a police officer?: The minimum requirements are 60 college credits from an accredited college OR 2 years full- time law enforcement OR 2 years full-time active-duty military OR 2 years full-time corrections.

8. Does the Boca Raton Police Department sponsor applicants to attend the Police Academy?: Yes, we sponsor applicants to attend the police academy and you will be paid your full salary while attending.

9. What prerequisite do you require prior to applying?: We require the CJBAT if you do not have an associates degree or higher and the physical agility test which is offered through Broward State College and Palm Beach State College.

10. Do I have to purchase any duty equipment?: The department supplies you with all necessary equipment, including a vest, firearm, and uniforms.

11. What is your take home car policy?: Officers who live anywhere in Broward or Palm Beach County will be given a take home car
