Will the City disclose my building's ENERGY STAR Score or Energy Use Intensity?

No, the City will not disclose your building’s information except with your consent and under certain conditions as outlined below. Buildings wishing to advertise and leverage high scores may do so using the City program communication, but it is not the intention of the City to penalize lower performing buildings who are choosing to participate and working towards improving performance.

  • Building energy use and ENERGY STAR scores may be shared in aggregate or without any identifying information as part of a report on the results of the program.
  • High performing buildings will be recognized for their high performance. Participants may opt out of this recognition.
  • As the program progresses, buildings will be recognized for making progress to improve energy efficiency. Participants may opt out of this recognition.
