  3. Citizen Oversight Committee*

    *This meeting is rescheduled due to Martin Luther King, Jr Day with a change in time. Citizen Oversight Committee meetings are scheduled quarterly, immediately preceding Financial Advisory Board meetings.The Citizen Oversight Committee serves as an advisory and reporting body to the City Council to provide for citizen review of the expenditure of the City’s share of the infrastructure surtax proceeds. The Committee’s membership is the same as that of the City’s Financial Advisory Board.

    The Community Appearance Board reviews plans of exterior alterations of buildings, other than single-family homes, to ensure conformity with established standards. Signs, billboards and landscaping come under close scrutiny by this Board to ensure the aesthetical quality of the City.

    Special Magistrates conduct hearings related to enforcement of various fire, building, zoning, sign and other codes of the City, in order to protect and improve the health, safety and welfare of the citizenry. Special Magistrates also hear appeals of parking fines.

    The Education Task Force reviews the status of City public school facility capacity, construction and renovation and reports their findings and recommendations to the City Council. The Task Force is comprised of seven (7) members who are City residents, at least three (3) of whom have children attending public school, grades K-12, in the City.
