  1. Art Exhibit: "Soul Doodles" by Scott Jeffries

    February 12, 2018, 9:00 AM - March 19, 2018, 9:00 PM @ Downtown Library

The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to present a new art exhibit, “Soul Doodles.” These abstract paintings are anchored in the sometimes comedic but always earnest reality of artist Scott Jeffries. After years of practicing law in Philadelphia, Jeffries moved to Boca Raton to pursue his true passion as an artist. As he developed his technique, his abstract tendency became more pronounced: trees transformed into wisps of color; bodies simplified into shapes; fish turned into loud, neon personalities; faces, just splashes of primary color. Ultimately, Jeffries’ painting is an irreverent expression of his sub-conscious, an invitation into his brain where space and form are imagined from a decidedly different angle.

  2. One Book Boca: Author Talk & Book Signing with Garth Stein

    February 24, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Downtown Library

The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to announce its 2018 One Book Boca title, "The Art of Racing in the Rain," by Garth Stein. The library staff chose this New York Times bestseller for its captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life—as only a dog could tell it. This is the third year that the BRPL is hosting a community reading experience to encourage connection among community members through the reading of one book. "The Art of Racing in the Rain" has sold more than 4 million copies in 35 languages, and spent more than three years on the New York Times bestseller list. It has inspired a Young Reader edition and a children’s picture book, as well as a stage adaptation, and is currently in development with Universal Studios for a major motion picture. Author Garth Stein will discuss "The Art of Racing in the Rain" at the Downtown Library on February 24 at 4:00pm. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
