    The Community Appearance Board reviews plans of exterior alterations of buildings, other than single-family homes, to ensure conformity with established standards. Signs, billboards and landscaping come under close scrutiny by this Board to ensure the aesthetical quality of the City.

  1. Fishing Academy

    June 24, 2019, 9:00 AM - June 28, 2019, 12:00 PM @ Spanish River Library

    AGES 6 - 13 Join us for a great week of fishing and a chance to catch a trophy fish! Participants will learn how to tie different knots, bait a hook, how to identify different fresh and salt water fish in Florida and about water safety. Fishing equipment such as rods, bait, etc. will be provided. A fishing tournament will take place on the last day of the program followed by an awards ceremony, All participants will receive a t-shirt, daily prizes, rod/reel to keep, daily snack and a medal during the end of week awards ceremony. We release all caught fish. Because of fishing equipment, this camp is limited to the number of campers, so please sign up quickly once registration opens. *Fishing site: 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd., west side of the Spanish River Library. *Dress code: Optional, yet encouraged to wear/bring water bottle, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, long sleeve shirt and tennis shoes.

  1. Endless Possibilities: Boca Raton Community High School Student Photography Exhibit

    The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to present a new photographic exhibit, “Endless Possibilities: Boca Raton Community High School Student Photography.” Visitors to the Art in Public Places area of the Downtown Library will be able to view a variety of photographs taken by the students in Boca High’s esteemed photography program. This free exhibit is open during regular library hours.

  2. Summer Reading Enrollment

    June 3, 2019 - August 2, 2019

    Sign up for the library's free Summer Reading program for kids, ’tweens, teens, and adults! Children (ages 9 and under) receive a free reading log, bag and bookmark when they enroll and can collect a new prize each week for reading. ’Tweens (ages 10–12) and teens (ages 13–17) receive a prize upon enrollment and are placed into drawings for gift cards at the end of the summer when they log their reading time online. Adults get a free book bag when they enroll and are eligible for an end-of-summer drawing for local attraction tickets when they log the books they read online. Enroll online or stop in at the Downtown or Spanish River Library.

    Socrates Cafe gatherings are held around the world, where people from different backgrounds get together and exchange thoughtful ideas and experiences. Persons attending gatherings engage in a common quest for a better understanding of human nature, and in the process strive for a more inclusive world. Socrates Cafe gatherings are free and open to any member of the public who wishes to freely discuss a question which is chosen by vote.
