  1. Summer Reading Enrollment

    June 3, 2019 - August 2, 2019

    Sign up for the library's free Summer Reading program for kids, ’tweens, teens, and adults! Children (ages 9 and under) receive a free reading log, bag and bookmark when they enroll and can collect a new prize each week for reading. ’Tweens (ages 10–12) and teens (ages 13–17) receive a prize upon enrollment and are placed into drawings for gift cards at the end of the summer when they log their reading time online. Adults get a free book bag when they enroll and are eligible for an end-of-summer drawing for local attraction tickets when they log the books they read online. Enroll online or stop in at the Downtown or Spanish River Library.

  2. Art Exhibit: "Relationships in Nature" by Kim Heise

    Kim Heise's beautiful watercolors contribute to the representation of native Florida species and their relationships to other plants and animals in the hope that they might be better protected. Heise notes, "Knowing the names, habits and relationships between the plants and animals around us is a type of literacy that roots us to the places we live."

    Socrates Cafe gatherings are held around the world, where people from different backgrounds get together and exchange thoughtful ideas and experiences. Persons attending gatherings engage in a common quest for a better understanding of human nature, and in the process strive for a more inclusive world. Socrates Cafe gatherings are free and open to any member of the public who wishes to freely discuss a question which is chosen by vote.
