Captain Jane Scott began her career with Boca Raton Police Services Department in 1991 as a Community Service Officer in the Traffic Division. In 1993, she became a Police Officer with the Agency and worked in the Field Services Bureau, subsequently becoming a Field Training Officer. Captain Scott was later assigned to the Investigative Service Bureau as an Investigator working both property and persons crimes. In 2000, she was promoted to Sergeant, assigned to the Field Services Bureau as a midnight shift supervisor and later as the Administrative Sergeant. In 2007, Captain Scott was promoted to Lieutenant serving initially as a Midnight Shift Watch Commander and then transferred to Investigative Services Bureau. Next, Captain Scott was assigned to Special Operations overseeing the Motor Unit, Marine Unit and K-9 Unit. Captain Scott was promoted to her current rank in 2014 where she took over responsibility as the Investigative Services Bureau Commander.
Captain Scott received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Edinboro State University, Pennsylvania. She is the Commander of the Honor Guard and a former member of the Department’s Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Captain Scott has attended the F.B.I. Florida Executive Development Course, Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer’s Development Course and D.E.A.’s Drug Unit Commander Academy.
Captain Scott is a member of several professional organizations including: The National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives; International Association of Chiefs of Police, Florida Police Chief’s Association; and the Palm Beach County Police Chief’s Association.
